Chapter 3: If This Is Negotiation, Then Change The Rules!

“Cruel, that damn Alpha’s heart is really colder than a block of ice!” I muttered, burying my face repeatedly in my palms. I had been waiting for the doctor to come out of the ward.

I still remember how I knelt in that restaurant, begging Luther and watched by the others. They must have enjoyed the spectacle. Their gazes were so disgusted they looked at my sister, who was convulsing, and fine foam started to come out of my sister’s mouth.

“Don’t you see this, sir? My sister is in danger, please give me the medicine,” I said to Luther.

“Didn’t you know the deal was to have the medicine!” he said, smiling faintly and walking away. Damn, he just walked away.

The doctor came out and explained the situation to me. It was epilepsy caused by heart disease. They couldn’t give any special medicine, which might happen again.

I lost my strength and almost sat down weakly, but Toby came just in time and hugged me from behind. He maintained my balance so I didn’t fall.

“How Hazel?”

My tears just flowed; it was unbearable. “This is not good. Toby, you know Alpha Luther well, right? Can’t you persuade him to take the medicine? As long as my sister can get better, we can be together,” I said

“I will find a way.” Toby hugged me tightly.

I also wanted an everyday life, but this reality hit me hard. It hurt so much, especially the secret about my family. No one knows how hard I’ve tried to survive so far, including trying to bury my family’s secret.

“But my sister can’t wait long.”

“Ruby, I have used all my connections, but this time, only Luther..” he growled.

“We don’t have time, my sister is dying, oh my God!” I cried again.

“I will persuade Luther again, if it doesn’t work, I will use force!”

“Like what? You’re going to fight him?”

“That's a matter between us men,” he said.

No, I don’t want to sacrifice other people’s lives. Toby has a gamma wolf in his clan, while Luther is an Alpha wolf. Their strengths are very different. Even though Toby is an expert fighter, Luther will still intimidate him as the pack’s Alpha.

The next day, I took the initiative. I did not visit the house pack; I only visited Luther’s primary residence. It was his mansion, the largest building in the area. The security was so tight that not just anyone could come here.

“I need to see Alpha Luther, let me in!” I said, arguing with the guard at the main door.

Fifteen minutes passed, and Luther came out of his mansion. “Let her in!” he said.

I hurriedly followed Luther’s footsteps, then handed him some photos. His eyebrows furrowed as he glanced at the pictures.

“I want to make a deal with you,” I said.

“You want to trade these scandalous photos for medicine?” her sexy voice replied. She put down the pool cue she was holding.

“That would be big news, because Sonya is a model, from the human clan and she is married! You guys hugging in this photo,” I said, trying to sound a little threatening. For business people, scandals are troublesome.

“What’s your occupation?”

"Reporter!”

Luther pushed me, making my body hit the edge of the pool table. He grabbed my neck. My blouse shifted, exposing my collarbone. “Why? Are you afraid of me now?” he said.

“I-it hurts, you hurt me,” I choked; my neck felt sore from his grip.

“You tried so hard to threaten me, when I already offered you another deal!” he said.

His grip on my neck loosened, but my breath was still tight. My chest rose and fell, heaving to the beat of my heartbeat. Luther ripped the photos apart.

“I still have a copy, even though you destroyed the photo,” I said.

Luther sneered; it seemed he was not afraid of my threat. Does that mean I failed in this negotiation? He let me breathe for a moment.

“Be obedient!” he said.

“Sonya and her husband are currently in a heated argument, the media is hungry for their news. If your name as Alpha appears in the news, how do you think it will bother you?”

Luther closed the distance between us again. This time, he lifted my body and made me sit in his arms on the pool table. “Threatening me again?”

“Sir, it’s just some medicine! I won’t bother you anymore after this,” I pleaded again. “My sister is dying! If I don’t do this, I will only make my sister’s condition worse.”

“Where is Luther?” said a man’s voice from outside.

My eyes became tense; it was Toby’s voice. For some reason, I felt uneasy, so I pushed Luther’s body and ran in a different direction, entering the room to hide from Toby.

But another hand pulled my body, making me lean against the door after the door closed.

“Why? Are you worried that your lover will think you're cheating?” Luther said, teasing me.

“Luther, are you in there?” Toby knocked on the door. Surely, they could smell each other’s scent. It was easy for Toby to find Luther. I heard that werewolves also had mind links.

I almost screamed, but Luther covered my mouth. “Shhh, you’ll get caught.” he deliberately kissed my slender neck, even far down, nearly touching my cleavage. How could I hold back my moans?

“Luther, I heard a woman's voice there,” Toby said again.

“Yes, and we just finished taking a shower, do you want to see this woman naked?” Luther said.

“Fucking shit, I don’t have time for this shit, Luther! Give me the medicine.”

“It seems like you really care about this girl named Ruby, she is only human.”

“I’m serious about my feelings, so give me the medicine, this isn’t a request anymore.”

My hands clenched tightly, holding back the stimulation that Luther had just given to my body until I squeezed my thighs tightly to hold back the ticklish feeling.

“I have never given that medicine to a human being before, if the medicine reacts badly to her sister's body and causes her to die, will you take responsibility, Toby?” said Luther.

Wait, what? The risk of that medicine is that my sister will die.
