“I don’t need your help anymore!” Ruby glanced at each of us, the disappointment in her eyes slightly disturbing me.
Toby, who was left behind, frowned in confusion. “Is there something I don’t know?” he asked me.
“Aren’t you the one who doesn’t dare to take a step? I thought you had given up on the medicine,” I replied.
“Oh, I'm not giving up on Ruby, I really want to marry her!”
“Sir, you can’t marry a human, you know the rules,” Ava warned.
“Do you really know my woman, Ava?” Toby asked curiously.
Toby was the best candidate to be my Beta. However, he had no interest in participating in the beta selection. Among the others, he was a childhood friend quite close to me in the pack. However, as we grew up, our priorities in life changed.
“I have more important things to discuss, besides your woman!” I said.
Toby took a deep breath, but he quickly realized my anxiety. “Is the problem getting bigger?” he asked, sympathizing with me.
“They will overthrow me, if I don't produce offspring for the pack!” I said.
“What? It’s that bad? Where is Carlos now?” Toby questioned my Beta’s whereabouts.
“He’s guarding her! She still in my residence!” I replied.
“Are you still hoping for a miracle for that woman?” Toby said sarcastically to me.
I changed the subject to “Give me your report!” I said to Ava so that Toby would realize our conversation was over, and he would walk away. But I had a feeling he wouldn’t give up on Ruby.
Three days have passed, and my wolf is restless, holding back this heat. I sin if I deny my thoughts; my chest is excited to say, I damn want to fuck Ruby. A year later, she disappeared from me, and when she came to me again, my wolf went crazy, more than I could control.
“She’s our mate, why can’t you be honest with Ruby?” Lycidas, my wolf. We have conflicting thoughts on this.
“We have another woman, and are in love!”
“I fucking want to fuck Ruby so bad, we need her! Tie her up, don’t let her disappear again.”
“I’ll think about it again,” I replied.
As I was enjoying my cigarette on the terrace of my mansion, a woman ran towards me from a distance. My sharp wolf vision quickly recognized the woman. With difficulty, she approached me, her body staggering.
“Sir! Please help me! Save my sister.” Her voice was terrified, and her hands reached for my arm.
She was in a mess, her body covered in bloodstains. The pungent smell of animal blood. Some of the blood had dried, making her hair stiff, and her face was pale with puffy eyes. Tears kept flowing down her cheeks.
“What happened?”
“My sister, she was rushed to the hospital now, but they won’t accept her. They won’t treat my sister,” her voice was sobbing.
“Then? Why are you here?”
“I beg you, do something. They will listen to someone as influential as you, right? Please, help me.” She knelt, covering her face in despair.
I carried her bridal style into the mansion and told her to clean herself up and change her clothes, even though she was still restless afterward. My wolves couldn’t see her sad because we felt what she felt.
“Didn’t your sister take the medicine?”
“It was just two pills, and it worked for her for a few days. But, something happened. Hazel was very shocked, and…” Her breath was ragged, but she still tried to talk to me. “There’s no time to tell this, please save my sister first.”
I raised my eyebrows. “human girl! You’re asking too much!” I said.
“Didn’t I agree to the deal you offered? I have the right to ask you for something like this, right?” she said again.
I would assume, she is dedicating herself to me. I like it when she relies on me like this. Just making me a pillar for her unfulfilled hopes.
Ten minutes passed, and I reached for my phone and made a video call with my people who were already in the hospital. Ruby rushed to see the phone screen and found her mother talking to the doctor before the ward door.
“The best doctor has treated the woman, Alpha Luther! Things are getting better here,” said my subordinate.
“Did you hear?” I said.
“Really?” she replied hesitantly.
“What did the doctor say? Explain and show me the situation there, so Ruby will believe it,” I ordered.
My subordinate explained the situation: Ruby Sister has recovered with proper treatment, and I paid a high price.
“Thank you very much for your help, Sir!” Ruby was relieved, but I still didn’t see her smile.
She packed her things into a paper bag, but I had no intention of letting her go just like that.
“Who said you could go?” I said.
“W-what?” she gasped; her footsteps stopped before she reached the door.
“Sit down, tell me, why is your body covered in blood?”
Sitting next to me while I closed the distance between us was awkward for her. Half of me was controlled by my wolf, even though I controlled my human body.
“Someone came to threaten us, my father had a debt, so they always do this kind of thing to collect the debt from my family, he made a scene and poured a bucket of blood on me,” he explained.
“Do you always face this kind of thing?”
“Yes Sir”
Slowly, I caressed her cheek with a soft and gentle movement. I saw her calm down because her eyes closed for a moment—my touch was like an electric current that teased her body.
“However, I am not doing charity. The agreement between us is a mutually beneficial transaction, isn’t that right?” I said.
Ruby bit her lower lip. “What should I do for you, Sir?”
“Make love to me tonight, and damn don't think you can get out of my bed in the morning!” My words managed to make her irises widen, meeting my gaze. I’m curious: Does she want the same thing as I do?
